Friends of Stratford Music Centre

The Friends, a Registered Charity, is a valuable support group raising funds to provide grants for the Centre to purchase hire instruments, music stands, music and other supplementary items for students at the Centre. To date it has provided funds for the acquisition of all of the pianos and hire instruments in use and funded other ventures. Members also operate the refreshment bar on Saturday mornings that everyone enjoys. New members are always needed and are very welcome.

The Friends would like to say a huge "thank you" to all parents and students for their continued support and help over the last few years.

Over that period, The Friends have raised funds which have provided the following items for use at the Centre:

  • Orchestral music
  • Minority instrument bursary
  • Residential weekends at Dunfield House
  • Wind Band concert Digital Camera
  • Assistance with the launch of the samba bands at Broom and Stratford
  • Samba Band instrument repairs and replacements
  • 2 full length mirrors for use by the violin tutors
  • 1 sewing machine for use in the Fashion Summer School and Shows
  • Help with the launch of the Junk & Funk summer course
  • 2 new CD players
  • adapters and microphones broom and kettle for the coffee shop
  • percussion instruments music stands

More help is always needed, even if you feel that you can only give an hour or so here and there. More volunteers are also needed to serve on the committee which meets periodically during the academic year.

If you feel that you would like to become more involved in fund raising for the Friends and thereby supporting the Centre, then please contact the music centre office and your name and telephone number will be passed on, or talk to the Chairman, Steph Watson, on a Saturday morning.
